We are actively looking for caring people who want to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors by volunteering with Seven Oaks Hospice Care. Under the close guidance of our staff — and after receiving training — volunteers supplement the personal care provided by Seven Oaks. Some volunteers spend quality time directly with patients while other volunteers put their current or past professional skills to use in administrative support roles. Whether with patients or behind the scenes – volunteers touch the lives of patients and their families.
Volunteers spend quality time with patients in comfortable settings. Volunteers read aloud; look at family photos; play cards; have afternoon tea; write a letter; share their faith; play, sing or listen to music; or share life stories — and so much more. One of the most important aspects of volunteering is providing respite to a patient’s family or other caregivers. Volunteers alleviate the fears of patients who do not want to die alone, or when a change in location or conditions presents a concern.
Volunteers spread the word about the genuine value and compassion of hospice. Volunteers advocate for hospice by distributing brochures at community gatherings, places of worship, and senior fairs. Volunteers who enjoy public speaking may even present before civic and religious organizations.

The "unsung heroes" of hospices are the volunteers who work behind the scenes helping the administrative office provide high quality care. Volunteers often answer telephones, photocopy, do filing and other administrative support.
Volunteering at Seven Oaks is a great fit for someone who wants to put their professional skills to use.
